About Lydia Sorensen
I am a detail-oriented strategist and collaborative leader passionate about tackling challenges and driving positive impact. I have extensive experience in the for-profit, non-profit, and government sectors managing teams, leading strategic planning efforts, and overseeing project management for large scale initiatives, with a focus on safety and justice. As the First Deputy in the Mayor\'s Office of Community Safety, I led collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, oversaw a team responsible for the development and implementation of the administration\'s community safety policies and programs, and managed relationships with the City of Chicago\'s public safety agencies and departments. In my previous role as an Associate Principal at Civic Consulting Alliance - an organization that leverages public-private collaboration and a unique approach to management consulting to make the Chicago region a great place for everyone to live in and work - I guided teams in supporting public and social sector leaders working towards equitable solutions for systemic problems. I harness my background in strategic planning, leading diverse teams, project management, partner management, and communications to listen to, learn from, and partner with government leaders, communities, and other stakeholders to help create safe and thriving communities.
