About Lydia Gehr
I’m currently a graduate student at Thunderbird School of Global Management pursuing a Master’s in Global Management with a concentration in Global Affairs. I’m passionate about work that brings people together across cultures and helps translate big, complex ideas into something accessible, meaningful, and human.Right now, I’m involved in a mix of communications, leadership, and global engagement work. I serve as Director of Communications for Thunderbird’s Foreign Policy Initiative, where I support policy dialogue and student engagement through internal communications and public-facing messaging. I also work as a Chapter Leadership Consultant with CHAARG, coaching and advising student leaders across multiple chapters and helping build strong, values-driven communities.My interest in global affairs is rooted in my experiences. From Peace Corps training in Zambia, to studying abroad in Prague, to supporting international exchange programming with Phoenix Sister Cities and applied consulting work in Cairo, I’ve seen firsthand how important empathy, listening, and collaboration are when working across cultures. No matter the setting, I’m drawn to roles that center people, connection, and shared purpose.I’m excited by opportunities in global affairs, communications, and international or mission-driven organizations where curiosity, thoughtfulness, and collaboration are valued.
