The Right Question Institute [formerly The Right Question Project] is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching a simple, powerful strategy that makes it possible for all people, no matter their educational or income level, to learn to help themselves by asking strategic questions and participating in decisions. The Right Question Strategy teaches foundational skills that are essential not only for effective self-advocacy but also for effective democratic action. The Right Question Institute (RQI) is a resource for programs, agencies and organizations working all around the country. RQI\'s innovative methods are used in a wide variety of fields, including K-12 education and adult literacy, health care, and parent involvement in education. The RQ Strategy in the classroom provides a way to students to learn how to produce, improve and strategize on the use of their own questions. In September 2011, Harvard Education Press published our book: Make Just One Change: Teach Students to Ask Their Own Questions. Recent articles in medical journals document how the Right Question Strategy helps patients take greater ownership of their own health care and partner more effectively with their health care providers. The Right Question Strategy also is used widely to help parents learn to a) support their children’s education, b) monitor their progress, and c) advocate for them when necessary. RQI partners with parent organizations, federally funded parent information centers, and schools and school districts around the country. RQI\'s work also produces examples of Microdemocracy, defined as \"individuals using essential democratic skills to participate in decisions made in their ordinary encounters with public institutions.\" RQI aims to build citizens\' democratic capacity in all fields.
