I have, like, a million ideas. I have ideas all day.\" – Kendall RoyMy name is Lulu and I’m a senior Advertising Major with a Minor in Public Relations at the University of Florida (Go Gators!). I’m from the Kingdom of Eswatini, and from as young as age 5, before I even understood what distance meant or what countries were, I remember wanting to live in “the place where Mickey Mouse is from.” My dream has changed slightly, perhaps just gotten more refined – I’m no longer chasing Mickey, but I am chasing the magic of creating stories and narratives that connect with people on a level that sees them as human, with real feelings, stories, and perspectives. I’ve been called a “personality hire,” and were I in another industry that might have been meant as an insult. But as someone who aspires to work in client services, where success demands as much trust as it does strategy, I can’t think of a better compliment. I have always been a storyteller, even at a young age, and I believe that my ability to write stories that moved people to tears (in a good way, I hope) came from my love of people themselves. I love talking to people - learning what drives them, understanding what inspires them, their dreams – and I notice the things they don’t say, too. Coming from a high-context culture where communication relies heavily on implicit understanding and nonverbal cues, I’ve gotten very good at reading between the lines and meeting people where they are. I see my future anywhere people, creativity, and culture meet, whether that’s in branding, sports, or entertainment. I’m always eager to learn, explore new ideas, and contribute to conversations that actually matter – like, were Ross and Rachel really on a break? Let’s discuss!
