Selected as one of the inaugural members of the DHS AI Ambassador program, a collateral duty I perform in addition to my primary role as a TSA Economist, I am tasked with accelerating the strategic adoption of artificial intelligence across the enterprise. My mission is twofold: to drive widespread employee adoption of our approved generative AI tools through strategic training, and to architect and quantify the mission impact of advanced AI use cases that solve critical operational challenges.In this role, I lead a multi-faceted initiative to build a sustainable culture of responsible, bottom-up innovation. Key responsibilities and accomplishments include:• Driving Enterprise Adoption: Architecting and delivering a tiered training program to scale AI literacy and drive adoption. This involves creating scalable frameworks, like a library of simple, step-by-step guides for building AI-driven workflows, that empower non-technical staff to build their own AI-driven solutions, turning passive users into active innovators.• Quantifying Mission Impact for Advanced Use Cases: Pioneering and implementing a mission impact framework to prove the value of advanced AI applications. I apply rigorous economic analysis to translate complex technical projects into clear, measurable outcomes—such as cost avoidance, enhanced security effectiveness, and unlocked mission value from unstructured data—to demonstrate a clear return on investment to senior leadership.• Architecting Secure Governance: Designing an agile governance framework to de-risk grassroots innovation. This peer-review model ensures all employee-driven AI solutions are secure and effective, creating a trusted pathway for scaling innovation across the enterprise.• Leading Technical Solution Delivery: Leading the hands-on development of high-impact AI tools, from advanced knowledge management systems (using RAG/LLMs) to NLP-driven data analysis platforms that serve as flagship examples of high-impact use cases.
