Recruitment is one of my passions. It’s weird, though, because I never thought of it as one for a very long time. There is something innately fresh and fun when you can tell someone about a job, and their ears perk up, or when you extend an offer to someone, and you hear the joy and excitement. Then, when you see them excel in their career is the ultimate reward.Let’s be real though - it is not all rainbows and unicorns (and no, I am not searching for that for you). I think it is also our responsibility as recruiters to be realistic with candidates & hiring managers, set expectations throughout the process, and then close any outstanding loops. Most importantly; we need to be empathetic on both sides. We are all human here. We need to be able to look past the title, look past the responsibilities, look past the company name/size/industry. We also need to look at who they are outside of work and REALLY get to know them. We are more than just a recruiter, and candidates are more than just a job seeker, and my hiring managers are more than just a boss.
