ABOUT LUKE CORNISH
Luke has a broad range of skills and experience having co-founded two investment backed tech startups, worked for large corporates in different industries and supported a number of non-profit organisations. For the last 15 years he has held digital-focused product owner, proposition development and innovation roles. At Lloyds Banking Group, Luke has operated in Retail Banking, Commercial Banking and the Chief Technology Office. He has worked across the entire product lifecycle from exploration, design and delivery to product management and commercialisation. More recently, he was exposed to cutting edge technology as the Innovation Sandbox PO that helped accelerate innovation across the organisation. These activities have involved collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and working extensively with strategic partners, suppliers and FinTechs. Prior to Lloyds, Luke cofounded two startups, timto and fundible, where he contributed to all business activities and was responsible for product and operations. The startups made the process of collecting money online and paying for products as a group, easy, fun and useful (e.g. group gifting, group travel). The digital platforms were distributed through B2C and B2B2C channels and were delivered in partnership with major UK charities and merchants.Timto won multiple UK innovation prizes that included significant investment. Most notably:1) Game Changing Idea for Giving (NESTA, UK Cabinet Office)2) DNA Profit with Purpose Prize (Bridges Ventures, United Nations Office for Partnerships). These successes led to Luke being:> Invited to meet HRH Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, representing the UK Technology Industry > Awarded an innovation scholarship from the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as part of a government delegation. This supported the implementation of the MIT REAP entrepreneurial framework across Wales > Made a Centenary Young Fellow of The RSA (FRSA)Away from the office, Luke helped create GlobalWelsh and supports the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. He is also a keen sportsman and can often be found on the golf course, in the gym or running around Cardiff.
