About Luke Therrien

I got my start flipping sneakers and golf carts as a teenager. That taught me early how to spot value where other people didn’t. It also gave me real experience negotiating, selling, and building relationships, which are skills that have carried into everything I’ve done since.I graduated from North Dakota State University Summa Cum Laude with a background in finance and sales, and I recently started my career at Viking Forest Products as a Trader Trainee. Being in the commodity trading and distribution side of the building materials industry has already been a great learning experience. Every day I’m getting a deeper understanding of markets, logistics, and what it takes to create value for customers.During my internships, I’ve had the opportunity to work on legacy style projects that capture knowledge from experienced traders who have been in the business for decades. Learning directly from people with that level of experience has been incredibly valuable.As I continue building my career at Viking, my focus is on learning the market, developing strong relationships, and finding opportunities to create value. At the end of the day, I still enjoy the same things that got me started years ago: spotting opportunities, solving problems, and making deals happen.
