Kingston Upon Hull, GB

Sauce is software consultancy based in Hull, operating across a number of different industries and technologies, including Logistics, IoT and healthcare.I work in a multi-hatted role, covering Business Analysis, Project Management and Data Science. Responsibilities include- Onboard new clients to the development team- Offramp clients to Support- Schedule and manage change requests and agile projects- Oversea hosting and service costs on a per project basis- Full Stack Data Science and LLM projectsI support Sauces sister company, YardOps. My role at YardOps is primarily as a Full Stack Data Scientist. Though not a particularly well used term, it highlights the fact that the Data Science/ML/AI work I\'m doing goes from training models, through to deployment to production and the monitoring of performance. The first project I\'ve taken to production is a RAG chatbot for giving the users information on the how to use the system. Instead of using an off-the-shelf product, I coded this myself in Elixir.

ABOUT LUKE SAVORY

3+ years in the software and data space7 years in research science in a global matrix organisationPhD in Physical Chemistry, including modelling complex surface science phenomenaThe details:I began my career in the realms of Physical Chemistry, completing a PhD focussed on modeling surfactant behaviour during enhanced oil recovery. I then spent seven years in industry developing high-performance PPE, mainly focussing on how chemicals permeate materials and how we model, measure, and control that process. During this time as an industrial Research Scientist, I travelled globally (Asia, Europe and US) around 10-20% of my time, visiting manufacturing facilities and labs.Over time, data became central to my work. First as a support tool, then as a path toward prediction. That curiosity evolved into a passion for machine learning and AI, especially where they intersect with scientific rigour.Today, I work in software consultancy, employed as a Business Analyst, but I spent between 20-80% of my time building applied AI solutions. I focus on practical implementations which will bring clear value, such as predictive modelling, RAG chatbots and MLOps, using primarily Elixir and Python. I call this full-stack Data Science, as I\'m handling the full process, from developing models through to serving and deploying them for the software to access. What drives me is turning complex systems into actionable insight. I’m interested in how deterministic models and data driven approaches can work together to support real world decision making.
