About Luke James
Following a summer internship during undergrad, I fell in love with how the home health and hospice industry cares for our country’s most vulnerable population-with many veterans included. It transitioned from a job, to a career to a calling very quickly. Over the years, I took on very diverse roles-Financial Analyst, Vice President of Business Development, Chief Strategy Officer, and eventually President. As a result, I developed quite a toolset for setting the vision and strategy to lead operations, sales, service management, law, compliance, and market management. I believe I\'ve been successful because I\'m a culture builder, a natural leader that others want to follow, skilled problem solver, team player, and understand what my team needs. Successfully managing a clinical mobile workforce that is always on the go and treating their patients consistently in less than ideal working conditions is not easy. Structuring attractive compensation packages, developing a culture of putting these heroes first, ensuring they feel fully supported and ensuring they are reaching full productivity has proved to be elusive for many. I\'m a leader of people-focused companies with a servant leader style. And I must say, in this field, what we do matters. I find it very rewarding to see strategy evolve to successful execution. A few accomplishments I\'m proud of include: • Grew Encompass Health to unprecedented levels of revenue and profitability, exceeding $1.1 billion in revenue and EBITDA exceeding $200 million, across 345 locations in 34 states. • Added $75 million to revenue by expanding the portfolio of value-based payment models to unprecedented levels at Encompass Health. • Served on the Board that guided management in transforming an unprofitable organization into a profitable operation generating high growth and successfully positioned it for sale to a private equity group.
