ABOUT LUKE HEBBLETHWAITE

As the Head of Games at BAFTA, I lead the arts charity’s mission as the foremost global cultural organisation in games, supporting and championing creative talent, advocating for progressive change and celebrating excellence in the craft of making games. As well as the prestigious BAFTA Games Awards, BAFTA provides a year-round programme of events, including Masterclasses with world-leading talent, workshops and networking activities recognising and supporting games professionals, producing world-leading games-focused video content and running headline new talent initiatives such as BAFTA Breakthrough and the national Young Game Designers competition. Prior to BAFTA, As the Insight & Innovation Manager at Ukie, I led on both research and tech implementation to support the trade association\'s approach to policy, advocacy and engagement work on behalf of the UK games sector. In this role, I launched a wide range of reports and tools that provided first-of-it\'s-kind authoritative industry data, such as the UK Games Map and UK Games Industry Census. I represented the games industry in a wide range of cross-sector working groups and boards, such as the StoryFutures and StoryFutures Academy initiatives, supported by the UK Govt\'s industrial strategy fund. I also ran Ukie\'s Mixed Reality working group, supporting emerging \"immersive\" creative businesses. Prior to working in the games industry, I was the Global Ecommerce Analyst for Dr Martens and spent 8 years working on international royalties in the music industry. I can usually be found playing Doom.
