A senior member of the Transport Planning team in the North West & Yorkshire - with a specific focus on Rail Planning & Operations. I regularly work on the early phases of rail projects, providing advice/analysis on rail operations and inputting into business cases across the country as well as internationally.On the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) project I have gained solid experience in the latter phases of a major rail infrastructure project. I am currently responsible for the project management of the closure of section W1/2a of the £3bn project, including the hand back of over 200 as-built document sets for in-service sections to Network Rail (encompasses GRIP 5 - 8).Alongisde this role, I am also one of the work package managers on the GSM-R Uplift project that forms part of TRU, responsible for the Tunnels, EMC and Human Factors disciplines.

ABOUT LUKE GRAVENER
Luke is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer (CEng) with 9 years of experience in the Rail industry. He has a large amount of experience in the early ‘case making’ stages of rail projects, leveraging his skills in rail operations, timetable / strategic planning and analysis to lead on business case input. Luke also has experience in the delivery phase of major projects where he has been able to apply his skills as a project manager and integrator. On the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), Luke is currently the Design Project Manager for the closure of section W1/2a of the £3bn project, between Manchester and Stalybridge. This includes the hand back of over 200 as-built document sets to Network Rail. This has required him to oversee over 10 different design teams as the delivery process moved from GRIP5 to GRIP8. Luke maintains monthly forecasts of cost to complete, brings teams and organisations together to resolve issues, and is accountable for progress. In the early phases of rail projects he has led business case input from a Rail perspective, and has played leading roles in the development of several concept of operations documents for major stations and metro networks. He is comfortable using the ATTUne timetabling software package as well as RailSys for performance modelling and infrastructure assessments.Project highlights have included working as part of the Operations team on 3 of the HS2 station development projects (Euston, Curzon Street and Old Oak Common), being named operations lead on the Sizewell C GRIP 3 rail scheme, and co-authoring the operational strategy document for a major Metro Network as part of a wider ops team. Luke is keen to broaden his knowledge in the signalling sector, particularly relating to digital signalling technologies such as ETCS and CBTC
