About Luke Bridle
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, I’ve been profoundly influenced by the city’s unique blend of Victorian, Edwardian, and modern architecture. Studying at RMIT University in the heart of Melbourne, I was inspired by the seamless fusion of historic and contemporary architectural styles, which continues to shape my design philosophy. The city’s parks, gardens, and laneways further enriched my perspective, prompting me to incorporate natural elements and carefully consider how people move through and experience spaces. My goal is to create transit spaces that are not only functional and accessible but also foster civic pride, connection, and opportunity for all. At the core of my approach is an intuitive architectural plan that prioritizes movement flow, accessibility, and user engagement. When clarity and ease of navigation are central, the space becomes not only a physical experience but a welcoming, empowering environment that fosters a deeper emotional connection for all who use it.Before joining HOK, I spent six years contributing to the transportation practice at SOM in New York, with prior experience at large engineering firms, and in London. This diverse, global experience across the U.S, U.K, Europe, Canada, Australia, and Asia has given me a broad and nuanced perspective on design and engineering. At HOK, I serve as Director of Transportation within the firm’s global Aviation + Transportation practice. With over 20 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to more than 60 mass transit and rail station projects around the world, including high-profile works such as Penn Station and Grand Central Terminal in New York City, and Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, India.I’m excited to continue shaping the future of transportation, working within HOK’s integrated approach to architecture, engineering, and urban design, and addressing the evolving challenges of mobility.
