ABOUT LUKE BEARDSMORE

Projects:The RSC Costume workshop (Placement) £7.3m - During my 15 month placement with Stepnell I had the pleasure of working on a project in my home town, the refurbishment and extension of RSC costume workshop. Home to RSC costume makers since the 1950\'s the existing 19th century grade 2 listed buildings were underpinned and refurbished to their former glory. This Included an expansive 3 story steel frame structure with brick slip facade, sedum & slanted roofing, sedum roofing and long sheet piles allowing the existing buildings to tile into adjacent RSC office on First floor. My placement was diverse, developing my knowledge of the different roles within contracting. This consisted of 3 months in design management, 3 month in quantity surveying and 9 month construction management. The Elizabeth Garret Anderson Building Worcester University (Assistant Site Manager - Site Manager ) £12.5m - Following completing university I walked straight into the demolition phase of The EGA refurbishment project, previously the Berrows House Newsprinting factory. This project was where I really established and honed my skills in construction management on a difficult D&B project. The refurbishment saw the 3 existing wings knocked down and install of new steel frame tied into the concrete frame. Envelope consisted of 0.7mm stand and seam Tecu cladding system supported on back to back C-channels and helping hand brackets. Achieving line and level between new and existing build proving the most challenging aspect throughout the project. Internally a section of the existing FF slab was removed creating an open expansive space complemented by the slanted roof light sections. The vision was to create an environment encouraging conversation and contact time between teachers and students. This project established my skills in sub-structure, super-structure, complicated logistical installs and Facade finishing. Bilton Grange Boarding House (Site Manager - Senior Site Manager) £16m - My first project as lead site manager will long live in my memory. A traditional contract with variations and serval coordination complexities once again establishing my love for complex and challenging build ability schemes. A vast array detailed finishes and trades ranging from Concrete frame, brick / stone work and courtyard tiling externally, to hanging timber ceiling motifs and even a slide installation internally. Bilton grange solidified how passionate and committed I am to both my projects and my industry. Confident and assured in my both ability and knowledge.
