ABOUT LUKAS KELSEY

I am a PGY-1 pharmacy resident at Clement J. Zablocki VA medical center and received my PharmD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2025. I am passionate about advancing healthcare through innovative pharmacy practices and leadership. With a strong foundation in clinical pharmacy, I am driven to make a meaningful impact in both patient care and the pharmacy profession. My residency has built a strong foundation in my areas of passion which include primary care, internal medicine, heart failure clinic, specialty medications, and psychiatric pharmacy. Upon completion of this program I intend to enter the workforce looking for jobs in ambulatory care, specialty pharmacy, or internal medicine.Prior to residency, I have had the privilege of gaining hands-on experience in various settings, including my ambulatory care pharmacy internship at William S. Middleton Veterans Affairs Hospital, where I consulted patients in pain management, mental health, primary care, anticoagulation, tobacco cessation, and specialty medicine clinics. In this role, I reviewed patient charts, ensured proper dosing, and worked closely with the healthcare team to optimize therapy for diabetic, anticoagulated, and liver failure patients. My ambulatory care experience has strengthened my ability to deliver patient-centered care and collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary settings.During my APPE year, I am participated in the Advanced Pharmacy Practice (APPE) Residency Track Program at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, where I am assisted in the development of a transitions of care pharmacy role. This program gave me the opportunity to explore the inpatient setting ranging from administration to the ICU. Additional APPE experiences gave me the opportunity to explore specialty pharmacy and health insurance plans, broadening my experiences. Leadership has been a core part of my development, with roles previous roles in initiatives like Operation Substance Use Disorder and various school committees that promote inclusivity and professional growth. I am committed to using my expertise to educate the next generation of pharmacy professionals, serving as a mentor, course coordinator, and presenter at industry conferences.Recognized for my academic achievements and involvement in professional organizations, I have received multiple honors, including recognition for my work in substance use disorder prevention and interprofessional collaboration. I’m continuously seeking opportunities to learn, collaborate, and make a positive impact on patient care and public health.
