About Luiza Drummond Veado
Passionate about creating a world where everyone\'s rights are protected and respected. With over a decade of experience in non-profit and international organizations, I specialize in multilateralism, development, gender, combatting gender-based violence, and SOGIESC issues. My journey led me to earn an LLM in International Human Rights Law with Merits from the University of Essex. I\'m a Brazilian attorney dedicated to championing human rights and social justice. As the former Senior Program Officer for United Nations Engagement at Outright International, I served as the Secretariat of the United Nations LGBTI Core Group, led civil society coalitions, and worked on groundbreaking initiatives. Previously, I contributed as a Human Rights Specialist at the Rapporteurship on Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Persons of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, authored thematic reports, and contributed to regional leading cases on human rights. My journey in human rights has taken me from the Human Rights Clinic at the University of Essex to the Inter-American Court on Human Rights, the Center for Justice and International Law, and the Minas Gerais State Human Rights Council and its Truth Commission. I\'m also a published author of academic articles on sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex characteristics. Having trained over two hundred activists and government officials on international and regional non-discrimination standards, policy, and advocacy, I\'m committed to empowering individuals and communities to advocate for their rights.
