TransAlta owns, operates and maintains electric power generating facilities in Canada, the United States and Australia. As the gas turbine specialist within the Engineering group I am accountable for providing the necessary engineering support for all aspects of gas turbine fleet including; • Asset planning, acquisitions and divestments• Equipment maintenance activity planning and implementing • On-going support of the operation and maintenance of existing facilities• Capital improvement projects • New facilities development and commissioning • Operations’ performance diagnostic services• Assessment of new technologiesMore specifically:Report to the leader of engineering; responsible for technical support of gas turbine fleet, maintenance planning and repair planning for gas turbines and gas turbine spare parts (GE, ALSTOM, Mitsubishi) from the TransAlta Head Office in Calgary.• Provide technical support for gas turbine overhauls and repairs for aero derivative gas turbine engines.• Provide technical support for the spare parts refurbishments for the large frame engines.• Develop operation processes and maintenance workscopes for the gas turbine fleet.• Monitor health of gas turbine fleet and determine optimum maintenance intervals.• Maintain historical documentation for the management gas turbine fleet.
