ABOUT LUIS CHAVEZ

Hello! My name is Luis Chavez. I am a first generation college student majoring in Finance at the Busch School of Business with a strong interest in corporate finance. My journey into studying finance started as a sophomore in high school, where I enrolled into every business-related elective I was eligible for. This allowed me to build an early foundational understanding of accounting, economics, business topics, marketing concepts, and financial literacy. Upon completion of these courses, I was able to solidify my desire to pursue a career in finance and corporate strategy. As a first gen student, I developed a foundation of hard work and resilience early on, transitioning from hands-on roles in construction to the analytical world of finance. I’m driven to be the first in my family to take on the world of finance with my relentless desire to learn, problem solve, grow, and deliver results to make a measurable impact. My deep cultural pride has shaped my discipline, as I strive to advance my knowledge and skills in financial analysis, modeling, forecasting, and reporting. In my current role as an Office Assistant at MAC Construction, I bridge site operations and office administration by creating and translating invoices and proposals ranging from to for each. Whether officiating youth soccer matches or managing membership flow at my university\'s fitness center, I thrive in environments that require quick, objective decision-making and 100% compliance with professional standards.Additionally, I am expanding my technical toolkit and financial knowledge through various Corporate Finance LinkedIn Learning courses. I have also coordinated an Excel Skill Share Workshop for freshman students to work on excel proficiency and have the opportunity to learn from upperclassmen with high-level internship experience at PwC and Dow Jones, who have already applied Excel in a professional setting. My analytical skills have been further sharpened through a Financial Analyst Job Simulation, where I performed core financial statement analysis and presented recommendations to mock senior executives.Furthermore, I am passionate about fostering a culture of companionship and mentorship with my Latino community, ultimately aiming to serve as a resource and leader for the next generation of first generation professionals entering the financial landscape!Feel free to reach out to me at c••••••@cua.edu!
