ABOUT LUISA MUNIZ

It all started when my Dad gave me an old camera in 2nd grade after I aced my Math test. The joke was on him, that moment snowballed into a career in film. Slowly I realized that my passion didn\'t lie in the creative side but actually making it all happen. Growing up in Chile, my opportunities were limited. As soon as I could I moved to Vancouver, Canada. After graduating with a Bachelor in Motion Picture Arts from Capilano University I quickly realized that the only way to find your spot in this world is by doing things. Building a life and a career is that vague. There is no clear path which makes it scary and exciting. I lived abroad during my studies where I gained studio experience in a few studios in London and Portugal. This led to an internship for one of the first Disney+ films produced in Vancouver. Soon after, I started as a Production Assistant at Electronic Arts. Here I learned all about tech, the importance of production and having a happy team. I moved up to Assistant Producer for NHL and Dragon Age 3 a year in. I was striving to get back into film, so I moved to Scanline VFX. Here I had a brief introduction to the world of Virtual Production. This opened my eyes to what Film and tech can do! Walt Disney Animation Studios had the amazing idea of starting a studio in Vancouver in 2022. I was lucky to be one of the first 50 hired. It\'s rare you get to experience the early beginning of a company with 100 years of history. I\'m still in awe I\'m able to learn how my childhood was created and get to be part of the new project we are working on So what is next? Only time will tell. Last year I started a blog called Ice Cream for Lunch where I dig deep into my passion for food, travel and community. I want to build, create and make new things. I know where my skills stand. I\'m the team member that knows what\'s going on and can build you a spreadsheet. That skill can be translated into numerous industries and my curiosity won\'t stop me. This is just the early days and what an adventure has it been!
