ABOUT LUISA ANTUNES

Passionate about bridging science, policy, and communication to deliver actionable recommendations that drive structural socioeconomic development. As an advisor on health & environmental policy, I support the development of strategic priorities, the drafting of legislation and the negotiation of positions within the European Parliament. I listen to local realities, experts and civil society, gathering perspectives and contributions to develop policies that have a tangible impact on the lives of EU citizens. Previously, as a health policy analyst, I provided science-driven policy analysis to Members of the European Parliament and organised multistakeholder events. Earlier, as a food safety officer at the European Commission, I led the EU\'s response to multi-country infection outbreaks and drafted the revision of the antimicrobial resistance monitoring legislation. With a PhD in Microbiology, I bring a deep scientific foundation in infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. My multilingual skills (English, French, Italian, Portuguese) have also enabled me to work as a science writer, journalist, and translator, making complex topics accessible to diverse audiences.
