About Luis Washington Lu
Dr. Luis Washington Lu, Eye-MD, F.A.C.S. is a Honorary Professor of Ophthalmology at CHP University, founder of the Pennsylvania Eye Consultants, Inc, and the Elk County Eye Clinic where he practiced for 30 years, after which he relocated to Arizona where he founded the Eye Consultants of Arizona, PLC.After college, graduated from the Cayetano Heredia Peruvian University with honors in 1975. Internship and general surgery training were spent before his formal residency in ophthalmology at the HHC Division of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University in New York. He had a year of Fellowship in Oculoplastic and Reconstructive surgery, and a Fellowship in Clinical Ophthalmology, Cornea and External Diseases, followed by a teaching appointment at HHC Columbia.Former Instructor in Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Lu is an American Board Certified Ophthalmologist and also certified by the American Board of Eye Surgery. A fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, he was the past president of the Elk-Cameron County Medical Society.Has contributed more than 70 publications in American and foreign literature, with over 25 chapters for books in ophthalmology, and more than 500 articles on Continuing Medical Education in Clinical Ophthalmology. He has written three textbooks, designed multiple surgical instruments, and participated in over 450 presentations in national and international meetings as a guest lecturer. Dr. Lu is a past recipient of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Award, American Medical Association Award, Argentinian, Mexican, Peruvian, and Colombian Ophthalmological Society Award, KMSG Study Group Barraquer Award, and Peruvian Medical Society Award for teaching and contributions to medicine.Preceptor at Arizona State University, University of Phoenix, and the Hiatt Medical Education for national and international medical students.
