About Luis Medina

I\'m passionate about my work. The mission of my radio program \"Con Sabor\" is to inform, educate and entertain the audiences that I serve about the genres of Salsa, Afro-Cuban, Latin Jazz, Afro-Latin and modern Cuban music. The program features interviews with prominent local, national and international artists. I expanded that reach with the addition of the radio program \"Sabiduria Con Tumbao/Wisdom With Swing\" that I host and produce on WorldSalsaRadio.com on Wednesday evenings 5 to 7 pm PST which started during the first year of the COVID19 pandemic. I have been recognized and honored by the State Legislature of California and the City of San Francisco for my accomplishments as a radio host, producer and musicologist. To compliment the Producer side of my business, my love of music and expertise of diverse musical genres was a key component in my roles as Music Director, independent consultant for Radio and as Entertainment Director for event production. I contributed to the nationally syndicated UnderCurrents Radio program as a guest host and producer who curated the music selections for their eclectic Americana-World Music format. UnderCurrents serves over 200 markets in the US and Guam. I was featured as the artist interviewer in the music film documentary \"Cachao - Uno Mas\" on the legendary Cuban music legend Israel \"Cachao\" Lopez which was co-produced by the renowned actor Andy Garcia. The documentary had its world premiere at the San Francisco International Film Festival and was aired on the PBS American Masters series. I am a seasoned Master of Ceremonies and Disc Jockey who has appeared at renowned San Francisco Bay Area/Northern California venues, concerts and major festivals. I was the featured DJ at the 17th Annual Tempo Latino Music Festival in Vic-Fezensac, France - the largest festival of its kind in Europe.
