About Luis Gonzalez

Born in Santa Fe, Cuba in 1970. From an early start I made pulp from fruits and sold them on the street. That\'s when my family new I was going to persevere. We arrived in the U.S. in 1979 and moved to Hialeah in 1981. Playing baseball is where I learned a lot of myself. Pitching became the position I enjoyed the most. It allowed me to be myself. The game was mostly on me. I excel in this position but realized I didn\'t have the size I turned to my studies. Math was always good to me. I turned my attention to Accounting in which I became an honor student at Miami-Dade Community College. From there I attended Florida International University where my self motivated personality took me from Accounting to Management. After graduating I worked with Pagenet in sales. I learned a lot in that short year to quickly continue my sales skills by starting a printing company in Hialeah. My desire to improve took me to public service. Entering the City of Hialeah in its Zoning Board in 2005. From there it open the doors to run for office and I did serving my city of twelve consecutive years as a Councilman and ending my career as the President of the Council. Throughout my public service I had the honor to serve the the President of the Miami-Dade League of Cities in 2012. Throughout this time I also served in the Board of the Florida League of Cities. The largest of such organization the U.S. Most importantly in marrying my wife Denise and having three beautiful girls Kristen, Lauren and Priscilla. In life you have to persevere. You will be down but you dust yourself up and keep on going.
