ABOUT LUIS ALFARO
I am a highly motivated individual with a passion for Finance and Basketball. I believe that sports and business go hand and hand, both require immense preparation, coordination, and discipline. When all three of those components are mixed with teamwork and pride of representing your team/company, that is a recipe for success. I’ve been able to incorporate my passions into my life and enjoy speaking about them, let’s connect! Since 2022, I have been working as an Associate Financial Analyst, and have been gaining invaluable experience serving as a liaison between business operation and the financial organization, analyzing, reporting and interpreting financial data to support informed decision making. Through collaboration with business leaders and the accounting team, I develop budgets and forecasts which coincide with the strategic goals of the company. I also produce and present financial results packages for budget holders as well as perform ad hoc analysis to help drive cost structure improvement. I officially moved to Chicago in June of 2022 and one of the things I knew right away was that I wanted to continue with my passion of coaching basketball, which began when I had to opportunity to coach with my old AAU team, San Francisco Champions. Since 2022, I have been coaching with Hot Shots Sports, and have been a 4th-6th grade head coach in both their boys and girls travel basketball programs named Glencoe Fire and Storm Travel respectively. I value teaching the game of basketball more than I value the actual wins, I believe if we learn how to play the correct way, the wins will come. The important thing now is establishing a solid foundation that will allow for a better development of the player for years to come! From 20••••21 I interned as a financial representative, I managed my own financial practice which operates on a non-fee basis. Money is an incredibly stressful topic and if I can alleviate some of that stress, as well as help others achieve their personal, professional, and financial goals. then all the hard work is worthwhile! During the same time period, I worked as a Coach for my old club basketball team, the SF Champions. At champions, we emphasize that the little things are what separate good teams from championship-level ones, and this lesson can be applied to all levels of not only the business world but life! I also worked as a brand ambassador for MealPal in 2019, on a team that outperformed all other brand ambassador teams in the company.
