ABOUT LUIGI SANTO

International concert artist, he began his studies at the Conservatory of Music in Cosenza, obtaining a diploma in trumpet with Giuseppe Zanfini. Subsequently he perfected himself in Paris with Pierre Thibaud. He began his orchestral career with important orchestras such as the Santa Cecilia Academy of Rome, the Teatro Massimo of Catania, the Abruzzese Symphony Orchestra, the Regional Orchestra of Tuscany under the guidance of Giuseppe Sinopoli, Georges Prêtre and other illustrious conductors. He forms the brass quintet \"Brass Collection\" with which he performs several tours in Europe and the Middle East. Winner of important national awards such as \"Amici di Castel S’Angelo\"; dedicatee of compositions by important composers such as Teresa Procaccini. An intense collaboration begins with David Short, with whom he performs numerous concerts for brass ensembles, as well as important recordings for RAI. He collaborates with internationally renowned musicians such as Scott Hartmann, Mark Mc Connell, Joe Bowie, Mike Moore. He recorded his first CD \"Silenzio… gli Ottoni!\" for the record company Marcophone, followed by 2 other live compact discs made with the great Fred Mills,\"Fred & Friends\" and \"Tubilustrum 2003\", starting a collaboration until the death of the Canadian musician. Later he meets the famous Timofei Dokshitser with whom he discovers and deepens the Russian romantic repertoire. From here he undertakes an intense concert activity with the \"Duo Pitros\" which leads him to perform in prestigious halls in Atlanta, Jacksonville, St. Petersburg, Paris, Athens, Skopie, Linares, Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid, Vienna, Frankfurt, Prague, Istanbul, Bacau, Oslo, Bergen, Belgrade, Chisinau, Helsinki, Ljubljana, Berlin… He has held masterclasses at Georgia University, Conservatorio Superior de Musica in Castellon. In 2006 he performed the first performance in Italy of Dmitry Shostakovich Concerto n.1 in C minor, op. 35, in the version by the great Timofei Dokshitser. In 2008 he held first italian performance of the Sonata for trumpet and piano by the New York composer Eric Ewazen.
