ABOUT LUIGI ORLANDO

I graduated in Industrial Engineering with a passion in production systems and supply chain themes.I\'ve improved my skills related to Lean Production and its tools working in Ducati with the aim of optimizing the production systems and the performance-costs-delays.I have worked for Conserve Italia in Demand Planning Area; it has been a great opportunity of learning and collaborate with different functions. The demand planner is the link between the market, the demand and the production scheduling and it has increased its importance in the last years. From May 2018 I have started a new experience in Ducati one more time but in a different role: the Crankshaft Production Manager with the aim of accomplish the engine assembly area requirements. This is possible by coordinating a team of about 26 people that work 24h/24h, 7/7 days for 320 days/year and by understanding the timing (cycle time of each production cell) of each SKU that has to be machined. Moreover, thanks to the cooperation between the manufacturing and quality areas, we completed the insourcing of several machining production phases considering the saturation of the production cells, the process feasibility and the training of the production operators. In this crankshaft line we produce the heart of all the Ducati engines in the world. From April 2021 to April 2025, I worked for the manufacturing engineering regarding the engine assembly area. The aim of this position is- to achieve the correct assembly of each engine, especially the new ones that our company designs- to be the facilitator of continuous improvement of the engine assembly area related to the existing engines. In order to accomplish these 2 points I was the team leader with the goal of join skills and knowledges of different functions within the company (R&D, Quality, Production, Purchasing, Logistics, Providers). From April 2025, I started a new adventure as Engine Assembly Production Manager with a big focus on many KPI- efficiency - hourly cost- B1C (% of good engines assembled)- motivation of the team
