ABOUT LUDMILA SCHNEIDER

Many people wonder how I can be both a scientist and a Christian. But knowing the mastermind behind the laws of science in person is actually the reason I became a physicist. Seeing Gods superiour intellegence and beauty in all his master pieces gave me the wish to find out everything just to have more reasons to appreachiate my creator. This is the reason I became an Astrophysicist. And each new galaxy, AGN, Quasar, Exoplanet and Odd Radio Circle gave me more reasons to praise Gods majesty and to want to know more. I was glad to do my bachelor of physics in the Justus Liebig University of Gießen, where I had the chance to get knowlegde of a broad field of physics, among which astrophysics was my favourite. During my Bachelor Thesis under my supervisors Professor Markus Thoma, Doktor Hans-Georg Zaunik and Doctor Michael Kretscher I had the chance to build, callibrate and solder a photometer from scratch. I still remember the rattling sound of the AC and spending the best days of June in extremely tiering and monotonous work. But then seeing my instrument work and operate was worth it all. Later during my years in the University of Hamburg I profited from a huge variety of amazing astrophysics lectures and the extrem friendlyness and passion of the professors. I can really recomend anyone interested in studying astrophysics in Germany to attend the University of Hamburg. During Covid I then started an online science internship at ESO. Doctor Peter Scicluna kindly taught me how to use STAR-LINK and remote terminals. So I spend three months tyring to produce images of dusty shells of AGB stars. Even that work was long and tyering, I was overwhelmed when I finally got a clear image during my last week. Still during Covid I started my master thesis on laserphysics at DESY. Unfortunatelly due to the CORONA restrictions it was made entirely of data analysis so I didn\'t get the chance to work at the labs. Also I was glad to do an ERASMUS+ exchange to AGH Universty of Krakow, which gave a few very intersting insides on engineering, modeling satelites and bio-materials. After completing I moved to Munich for a Science Internship at Max Plank Institute for Astrophysics in Garching, where I had the chance to analyse data of evolved Galaxies in python and to crossmatch optical and radio data. During this whole time I have been tutoring children and translating materials to English for my friends who are teachers in Ghana and Uganda. Beeing abled to help children to have a better future and to succeed in life is one of the most wonderful things on earth.
