Head up Government and Stakeholder Engagement, as well as leading the wider Policy and External Relations Department- Line manage a team to deliver the British Council’s strategies for Government, Parliament and wider stakeholder engagement and policy insight, as well as a speechwriter- Lead on coordinating the British Council\'s relationships with UK Government Departments and other key corporate stakeholders, including the relationship with Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office senior leadership, the ALB sponsor/Soft Power teams and the cross-Whitehall British Council Government Engagement Group. Develop and deliver, with colleagues, a programme of strategic Whitehall engagement each year (including with FCDO, Prime Minister\'s Office, HMT, DCMS, DfE, DBT, MOD, Cabinet Office/NSS, DSIT)- Lead on government liaison, positioning & strategic engagement around big ticket corporate moments, such as Comprehensive Spending Reviews and Government reviews of the British Council as an ALB- Shape the Chief Executive’s external engagement programme and oversee the design and delivery of the CEO policy round table series and other stakeholder events- Provide strategic and tactical advice and support to the Chief Executive, Executive Board and colleagues across the organisation in engaging stakeholders and influencers in the British Council’s work and in managing these relationships. Embedded a new consistent global approach to stakeholder engagement across the organisation- Ensure the British Council is part of the policy dialogue around soft power and the UK’s place in the world, eg featured in Integrated Review & Refresh.
