Liaison between scientists and engineers working with students through the Office of Education\'s programs. The portfolio included the NASA Postdoctoral Program (http://npp.usra.edu). Managed and directed research programs in the Department of Astronomy, University of Maryland, focusing on the physical and chemical properties of asteroids and comets in the Solar System for 16 years, working with students and post-doctoral scientists interpreting data returned from robotic spacecraft and Earth orbiting telescopes with the goal of determining the nature of the early Solar System and how it evolved into its present state. Member of the Near-Earth Asteroid Rendezvous Mission science team, Co-Investigator of NASA\'s Deep Impact, EPOXI and Dawn missions. Developed materials for teachers and informal educators with a team of education specialists, using themes of NASA\'s space research to engage students and the public in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Past-editor of The Encyclopedia of the Solar System with colleagues Paul Weissman and Torrence Johnson, its second edition published in 2007 by Elsevier/Academic Press.
