To date I have assisted with two accounting fraud investigations assessing the extent to which the false representations concerned misled investors and market speculators. As part of my assistance with these investigations I have been trained to understand the laws governing relevant accounting standards and representations firms make to the stock market. My investigations have involved the investigation of revenue recognition standards, circular transactions and the falsification of accounting records.My responsibilities include:• Determining the relevancy of documents to the investigation and whether they assist the case for the prosecution or the defence• Reviewing communications, contracts, accounting information and statements given by witnesses and suspects• Composing file notes to assist with reviewing groups of documents• Using Axcelerate• Preparing spreadsheets to consolidate the review of file data• Assisting with intelligence checks • Undertaking training on criminal law and data protection regulations
