ABOUT LUCY G.

At heart I\'m a tech and a problem solver, since 2003 my roles have predominantly involved technology in some way but my primary knowledge is in the data and analytics space. My accidental love for hands-on technical skills came about due to working for a then small, now much larger and thriving software house in Stoke on Trent. I was fascinated by the rules based decision making of one of the products and I headed to uni in my late 20\'s (the first of my family to do so) to study Applied Computing. To my surprise I discovered mathematics and statistics to be great fun. In no small part this was due to the talents of some amazing lecturers who opened these subjects up to me - one of whom I\'m now delighted to call a colleague and several became friends. I found my niche. Given my own entry in to technology I care a lot for early careers, careers switchers, those with non-traditional entries in to tech and under-represented groups. I try to help where I can and am clapping behind that celebrate emoji if I see you doing well. I\'m a mother to a young family, learning Python and keeping on top of my data skills whilst working full-time for a fantastic team closing the digital and data skills-gap through apprenticeships, I love my role fixing business problems through education!
