After treatment for stage 3 head and neck cancer, worked with National Health Service, Mouth Cancer Foundation, and Maggie\'s Centres to support improved patient outcomes (through advocacy and support to fund-raising, the production of two patient guides, and contribution to a patient handbook)-Peace-focused voluntary assignments undertaken during my recovery are : 1) Designed and helped to deliver Scottish International Storytelling Festival on 75th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights. 2) Designed workshop for film-makers at Berlin International Film Festival, focused on role of (cinematic) language in promoting empathy and action for a better world. 3) Concept development and advocacy for Payback4Ukraine (campaign using legal tools to obtain resources for Ukraine\'s recovery).

International development professional with 15 years’ United Nations experience in Middle East, Asia, Africa, Pacific and HQ. UK National Health Service, Mouth Cancer Foundation, and Maggie’s Centres) to help empower a shift in approach to cancer that supports patients’ capacity for resilience, excellent treatment outcomes, and joy. This intention is at the core of my humanitarian work, too. I believe that communities and institutions identified as ‘vulnerable,’ ‘weak,’ and ‘lacking capacity’ possess capabilities, knowledge and potential for innovation that can transform communities, countries, and the wider world. My book on this theme—‘9 Wonder Words: A Language for Living Well Even When All Hell Breaks Loose’—is critically acclaimed.
