ABOUT LUCY HUNT

Passionate about bridging science and application, I help clients turn complex geoscience challenges into practical solutions — from diamonds and indicator minerals to the next generation of mineral characterization.I am a PhD-trained geoscientist and supervisor at the Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) with more than 16 years of experience spanning exploration, mantle geochemistry, advanced microanalysis, and diamond evaluation. Since joining SRC in 2013, I’ve grown into a leadership role where I manage technical teams, guide research initiatives, and build strong client relationships across the mining industry.At SRC, I have expanded Applied Diamond Services into a world-leading platform, establishing the only full-circuit diamond laboratory outside Antwerp and India. I also led the evolution of our indicator mineral program from a kimberlite-focused workflow to one that now supports critical mineral exploration. This work has naturally progressed into pioneering efforts in automated mineralogy, where I am driving innovation in how indicator minerals are identified and applied in exploration.Beyond laboratory development, I am deeply involved in sensor-based sorting, ore characterization, and pre-concentration flowsheets — areas where SRC is breaking new ground in mining innovation. I also contribute to business development and marketing, bringing in new clients, writing technical articles and outreach pieces, and presenting at international conferences.At the core of my work is a passion for delivering reliable, innovative solutions while advancing the broader understanding of diamonds, indicator minerals, and critical mineral systems.
