ABOUT LUCY HUGHES

Lucy joined ENGIE UK (then known as GDF SUEZ) in 2014 to support the Retail business based in Leeds. Lucy has supported that business in various guises over the years, plus supporting the Home Energy and EV businesses. At present, Lucy primarily supports the Energy Supply business, and in particular focuses on Enterprise Sales; Operational Support including Business Transformation, IT, Retail Operations, Metering, Asset Management, Customer Services, Credit Control and Debt Recovery; and Disputes, including TPI Commission Claim disputes. Lucy also supports the wider UK business in respect of HR supplier and IT contracts. Lucy was also the UK DPO from January 2021 after ENGIE UK split with EQUANS until March 2024. Lucy joined Walker Morris in 2006 as a paralegal within the Commercial Public Sector & Projects Team. She became a trainee in 2007 and qualified into the Commercial Public Sector and Projects Team in September 2009. During her training contract, Lucy was seconded to two major clients and worked across a number of departments and legal sectors, including property, commercial contracts, public sector and banking litigation. Lucy has experience of working on a number of large-scale projects in the waste, emergency services, schools, housing and health sectors, and has experience in respect of a variety of smaller commercial deals, including leisure contracts, charity transfer documentation and collection agreements, funding agreements and various energy-related agreements. Lucy was a member of Walker Morris\' Education Group and was involved in the firm\'s academies and schools work; taking the lead on academy conversions, producing all the commercial documentation and liasing with the client, Council, DfE and third parties. Lucy also advises on schools\' contracts including catering, grounds maintenance, and various documents including Memoranda of Understanding and School Agreements under PFI and PSBP regimes. Lucy undertook specialist advice in respect of state aid and advises public, private and third sector organsations in respect of the applicability of state aid regulation and possible exemptions, exceptions and approved schemes. She also provided advice in relation to funding (and applications for funding), including RGF and ERDF.
