About Lucio Cruz-Nolasco

Lucio Cruz-Nolasco is a graduate researcher at Vanderbilt University, pursuing his Master of Engineering in Surgery and Interventions. His passion for pushing the boundaries of medical technology drives him to explore the potential of miniaturized robotics and soft robotics for noninvasive surgery. He aims to develop innovative medical devices that will enhance precision, efficiency, and patient outcomes in minimally invasive surgery. At Vanderbilt, Lucio works with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, surgeons, and scientists to design, test, and evaluate novel robotic systems and platforms for surgical applications. He applies his skills in problem-solving, data analysis, and communication to conduct rigorous research and present his findings to various audiences. He also leverages his knowledge and experience from his bachelor\'s degree in engineering from Mercer University, where he excelled academically and participated in several extracurricular activities. As the president of the Biomedical Engineering Society and the vice president of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, he mentored, organized, and supported students in pursuing STEM opportunities and careers.
