About Lucio Barreto

I hold a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Rutgers University, with an AGACNP-BC certification from ANCC, and vast experience in Critical Care and Emergency Medicine. My doctorate QI project was \"Development, Implementation and Evaluation of a Multidisciplinary Approach when Diagnosing HIV in the Emergency Department\". From that point, I have been incessantly working to acquire more and more knowledge in Infectious Disease practice and advocate for LGBTQIA+ minorities. I currently work as Clinical Program Director at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, NY, where I develop quality improvement projects to improve our metrics in Sepsis, HAIs, Falls, Safety Medication Administration, amongst others. I am proud to be an experienced transformational nursing leader who continuously search for professional growth with the aim to support nursing practice, create interdisciplinary collaborative environment to facilitate educational partnerships, and support staff professional and personal growth and retention. With considerable experience in emergency medicine operations, critical care, hospital throughput, quality improvement (utilizing Lean Six Sigma approach), patient safety, just culture, policy proposals, patient experience and service excellence, I am eager to learn and develop important skills to create a better and safer environment of care for nurses, providers and patients.
