ABOUT LUCIA OPALKA

I am a recent management graduate at the University of St Andrews, who graduated in July with a first-class Master of Arts (Honours) degree. My desire to learn about the business and compliance world has brought me abroad to one of the most prestigious universities in the world, where I have formed a comprehensive basis for understanding the theories that underpin business interactions and their practical implications. Throughout my life, I have thrived when collaborating, allowing me to succeed in leadership positions. This year has been my second year as the Vice-President of the Music Centre at the University of St Andrews, and my third year specialising in careers and events. I have successfully organised over fifteen career events, panels, and masterclasses during this time. I have actively participated in societies including Law and Snowsports, and was a human resources representative and point of contact for Playfair Consultancy Group. I have additionally furthered my technical skills and gained practical experience by interning with EY, Pegasus Coffeehouse, and MPower Voices International. These positions have challenged my assumptions of what efficiency in the modern business environment looks like, and have elevated my organisational, communication, and prioritisation skills. I hope never to stop learning and maintain exceptional marks, but also to gain more industry experience and aid my pursuit of work in compliance, law, and finance in the UK and Ireland. Next year I begin my Postgraduate Diploma in Law at the University of Law, Moorgate.
