About Lucia Maxwell
I’m a business immigration attorney, a mom, and a co-founder building a business from the ground up. From law school besties in 2004 to co-founders today, Nadia Zaidi and I saw a huge gap: immigration lawyers drowning in EB-1, O-1, and NIW petitions with no extra hands to help. So, we built Outcounsel, a way for attorneys to get top-quality, ready-to-file petitions from experienced lawyers (without adding staff). Now, I get to work from home, help other lawyers succeed, and spend time with my family — all while doing work I love. I began my career in the fast-paced world of complex commercial litigation at Weil, Gotshal & Manges. I represented Fortune 500 companies, media conglomerates, professional athletes, and global manufacturers in high-stakes disputes. I thrived on trial strategy, depositions, and solving problems under pressure.But when I became a mother, my priorities shifted. I wanted meaningful legal work while having the flexibility to be present for my family.I knew I needed a model that worked from home, gave me control over my schedule, and let me operate at the top of my game.That’s when Nadia, my best friend since law school and a seasoned business immigration attorney, kept telling me:“There is a huge need to prepare these labor intensive visa petitions for business immigration lawyers.” She was right. Together, we co-founded Outcounsel, LLC, a flat-fee, expert drafting service for business immigration cases.🤝 We partner with law firms and solo practitioners to take on the heavy lifting so they can focus on client relationships and growing their practices.
