1. First Sergeant

   After serving on active duty, I took a break in service (6 yrs) returning to the Army, immediately becoming a Drill Sergeant. I am currently serving as First Sergeant to a Drill Sergeant Infantry OSUT Company, ensuring that the Soldiers are cared for and the mission is accomplished “Mission First, People Always.” My priority is that me and my team adhere to the role and expectation of a quality Drill Sergeant which is responsible for the welfare, behavior, and military education of initial entry training (IET) recruits; supervising and training Soldiers. Turning todays civilians into tomorrows Soldiers. Instructing recruits on drill and ceremony, Soldier skills, basic rifle marksmanship, physical fitness, military discipline, and unit taught subjects. Teaching general military subjects and warrior tasks to the unit; mentor and guiding Soldiers through hands on demonstration and personal counseling. Lead by example is imperative, not just by demonstration, but also personal mentoring through professional relationships. It is important to be a servant leader keeping succession planning in mind. Focus placed on enhancing the stronger qualities and developing the weaker qualities of your team, each individual at a time.
