ABOUT LUCAS SOPER
My practice focuses on litigation and regulatory matters, with an emphasis on Aboriginal, environmental, and natural resources law. My litigation work spans public and private law, including cases involving Aboriginal title and rights, as well as commercial and construction disputes. I have appeared before the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Provincial Court of British Columbia and advised clients before a range of administrative decision-makers.In my regulatory practice, I help clients navigate complex frameworks, including environmental assessments and Indigenous matters. I also conduct due diligence on environmental and Indigenous issues in corporate transactions. This experience includes advising clients in industries such as energy, mining, and agriculture.I joined Lawson Lundell as a summer student in 2023 and became an associate in 2025. I earned my JD from Dalhousie University in 2024, graduating with certificates in Indigenous and Aboriginal Law and Environmental Law. Before my legal career, I played Varsity Baseball at the University of British Columbia and worked as a researcher for Indigenous nations, communities, and organizations, with a focus on Traditional Knowledge and Use Studies and Indigenous health.
