I moved away from home and my family at 15 years old to live with a host family that I didn\'t know (*complete strangers) in order to pursue my athletic dreams. Little did I know, over the course of the next 4 years I would live in 5 different cities, be embraced by 5 different billet (host) families, live in 2 different countries, meet countless teammates who I call family now, attend 2 different high schools, and most importantly learned more about life than I ever could have imagined.+ Hockey taught me how to connect and communicate with people (living with strangers and their children)+ Hockey taught me how to crush adversity (I was traded teams at 17 years old. I walked into the locker room and my bags were packed and I was given the address of a new team and a new host family and told to go there.talk about adversity)+ The journey taught me to seek the uncomfortable, and run straight towards it (leaving everything and everyone that I knew and loved at 15 years old to pursue my dreams)+ Hockey taught me how to embrace rejection (getting cut, traded, told to quit, more times than I can count)+ Hockey taught me to love boldly (love the game, love my teammates, love the process, love my family, love the struggle) Again.and I emphasize.Lover of the Journey.
