ABOUT LUCAS EMERY
Like most kids growing up, I was immersed in the various fads throughout our society. Whether it be playing Nerf, riding hoverboards, or competing ferociously in spike ball I found myself indulging in these activities as if it were my purpose. However, as I grew older, becoming a more mature young man by the day, I found inspiration in the ranging daily conversations between my father and I. We found ourselves talking about industries that implicate our society, ultimately sparking my desire and the beginning of my pursuit in a business career. Now being a student at the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics, I have made my desire, one step closer to a reality. After years of switching between remote, hybrid, and in-person learning, I look back at the interactions and experiences at Notre Dame Secondary School that have shaped the person I am today. With the insight and support from impactful mentors, I enrolled in my first business class in grade 11. The next thing I knew business courses occupied half my semester, and I was spending more and more time understanding the basics of business. One moment that summed up my dedication to pursuing a business career, and something I call my greatest achievement to this day, would be my acceptance of the Business Subject Award while walking across the stage at high school graduation. My first year at the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics has been a transitional period, where I have been able to achieve both personal and academic success. As a Director of Operations at Xlerate Lazaridis I have been able to actively contribute to the success of my peers through the orchestration of various events such as QuizBowls, workshops, and a first-year exclusive Case Competition, which all intended to ease the transition of high-school students to university students.
