ABOUT LUCA IZZO

Class 1993. I am currently a Mechanical Development Senior Engineer in Flex Milan where I am involved in design biomedical devices, design of mechanical components and fixtures for engineering tests, develop computational simulations, perform data analysis and explore new engineering tools. Before joining Flex, I worked at Politecnico di Milano where I was awarded with a PhD research fellowship to work in a prestigious ERC project in which I co-designed an organ-on-a-chip device, which is now patented in Italy, Europe and Japan and I have also co-founded a start-up company called MOAB (https://moab-research.com/) which develops and sells a Miniaturized Optically Accessible Bioreactor for milli-fluidic perfusion of 3D cell constructs and engineered niches for advanced cell cultures. At the end of this three-years path, I then obtained a PhD Magna Cum Laude in Bioengineering. I graduated both in Biomedical Engineering (Laurea Magistrale) at Politecnico di Milano and in Bioengineering (Master of Science) at University of Illinois at Chicago after participating to a joint double degree project between the two faculties. I have experience in the field of med-tech mechanical design, numerical simulations and engineering tests. I have very good team work capacity and excellent temperament in establishing human relationships.
