About Lu Shen
As a former chemical engineer and aspiring data scientist & analyst, I have led a team to scale up product development to project deliverables ($175MM/Year). I am excited to make data-driven decisions with a diverse background and working experience. With a background as a chemical engineer in the polyurethane industry, I have expertise in formulating and scaling formulations for commercial-ready products. Eager to broaden my skill set and take on more responsibilities, I pursued an MBA, where I got intrigued by business analytics. I applied SQL to analyze sales and operational data to provide actionable insights to R&D, sales, and operations and utilized Python to automate lab reports and reduce repetitive work. Recognizing the potential business insights driven by machine learning, I delved into machine-learning courses and explored the power of data during my spare time. That\'s why I studied at the Institute for Advanced Analytics. The process of data storytelling and the application of various visualization tools, such as Tableau, to the practicum project, is fascinating. By immersing myself in statistical concepts, I gained a fundamental understanding of data and applied it in data exploration and analysis. Studying at the Institute for Advanced Analytics allows me to use Python packages NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, and TensorFlow packages for various machine learning models and neural network applications. I strive to make data-driven decisions by bringing my statistical know-how and programming skills in Python, R, SQL, Power BI and Tableau. I am well-equipped for my next adventure to deliver analytical insights to solve complex business challenges.
