ABOUT AMITA GUPTA
I am an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Comparative Religion and Civilization, Central University of Jammu, specializing in Himalayan archaeology, archaeometallurgy, Indian Knowledge Systems, and the cultural history of Jammu & Kashmir. My research bridges material science and historical inquiry, with particular focus on early metallurgy in the Indian Himalayas. As a Swiss Government Excellence Scholar at the University of Fribourg, I conducted advanced archaeometric analysis of metal artefacts using XRF, XRD, and SEM techniques. My work engages with technology, sacred landscapes, heritage studies, and civilizational knowledge traditions.Alongside research, I actively contribute to academic leadership and NEP-2020 Faculty Development Programmes nationwide, delivering invited lectures on holistic education, Indian Knowledge Systems, governance, and inclusive pedagogy. I also serve as ANO (Senior Wing, NCC), mentoring young leaders.I am passionate about interdisciplinary research, heritage conservation, and building collaborative academic networks across institutions and borders.
