About Lakhvinder Singh
I am a PhD student in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Kent State University, with a research focus on avian ecology in agricultural systems. My research examines how bird communities interact with agroecosystems and how these interactions influence ecosystem functions such as pest control, nutrient cycling, soil processes, and biodiversity conservation.My interests include studying bird diversity, behavior, and functional roles in farm landscapes using field observations, genetic and nutrient analyses, and ecological modeling. I am particularly interested in understanding the ecological benefits and tradeoffs of conservation practices, such as cover cropping and reduced tillage, that shape wildlife use of agricultural fields.With a background in zoology and experience in avian biology, genetics, and field ecology, my goal is to integrate ecological theory with applied research to support sustainable agriculture and conservation outcomes.
