About Laura Simpson
I’m a Lead Product Designer with 10+ years of experience turning complexity into clarity—whether it’s streamlining enterprise workflows, building scalable design systems, or designing award-winning storytelling games.My work spans EdTech, FinTech, and the nonprofit sector, where I’ve delivered measurable impact through research-driven design, cross-functional collaboration, and thoughtful systems thinking. I’ve led design initiatives at Moody’s, McGraw-Hill, and Casebook, and currently consult in emerging technology and game design.As founder of Sweet Potato Press, I create indie tabletop games that explore identity, narrative, and world-building. My game Companions’ Tale won Game of the Year and was honored by the Diana Jones Award for Black Excellence in Gaming.In 2025, I was elected to the Community Education Council for NYC District 30, where I advocate for equitable, high-quality public education and bring UX-informed thinking to civic engagement, policy review, and family empowerment.I thrive at the intersection of clarity, creativity, and community—and I’m currently exploring Lead or Principal Product Design roles where I can drive strategy, foster innovation, and build experiences that matter.
