About Lauren Raup-Plummer

I lead a team of internal and external engineers, hydrogeologists, construction coordinators, filter specialists, and associated professionals in capital improvements to the more than 740 water systems and 60 wastewater systems in Aqua NC’s portfolio. My team ensures that these capital improvements are prudently selected, efficiently completed, safe, and effective. We support business development opportunities and coordinate with Environmental Compliance and Operations for new and existing facilities. Overall, we continue to cultivate expertise on current and future technologies for water and wastewater to meet and exceed the industry benchmarks and regulatory requirements at the federal, state, and local levels.Prior to my position with Aqua NC, I worked in the Water Quality Permitting (Non-Discharge Branch) and Public Water Supply Sections at the NC Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ). I reviewed engineering documents, prepared permits and project approvals, and reviewed compliance data for regulated systems. I also have prior experience in the private sector as a Staff Environmental Engineer at GEI Consultants, Inc. and as a Geotechnical Staff Professional for S & ME, Inc. in their respective Raleigh, North Carolina locations. My consulting experience included construction oversight, environmental data monitoring and analysis, and geotechnical and environmental site exploration. In 2013, I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Master\'s degree in Environmental Engineering and a Minor in Environmental Policy. My thesis work evaluated the public perceptions and related public policy regarding sustainable waste treatment practices, such as biosolids land application and municipal solid waste composting. My undergraduate education was completed at Virginia Tech in 2007 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a Minor in Geosciences.
