ABOUT LOURENSO RAMAUTAR
Lourenso Ramautar was born in New Amsterdam, Guyana in 1975. He moved to Queens, NY with his family in 1987 at the age of 12. He is a graduate of Parsons School of Design, class of with a degree in Photography. After graduating, he was hired as a product photographer for Macy’s catalog, where he worked for four years. In 2004, he published a book entitled Mask: the West Indian American Carnival, the first full color photography book documenting the West Indian American carnival in the U.S. and Canada. In 2006, he began freelancing at Goldmark Studio where he shot luxury and high end jewelry for magazine advertisements, billboards and catalogues. In 2007 he launched Complexion Magazine which showcased the rich diversity of Caribbean culture that influenced mainstream American fashion and music. From 20••••12 he worked as a fashion photographer for E-fashion Solutions where he shot for companies including DKNY, Lacoste, Playboy, Ben Sherman, Sean John, Rockwear, Baby Phat, Dereon, Ashley Stewart, Apple Bottom, Mandee, Anniesez, steinmart and eBay Fashion Vault. His fine art work has been featured in museum exhibits including the Queens Museum of Art. Lourenso’s advertising photographs have appeared in numerous magazines including Vogue, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Hamptons Magazine and Martha Stewart Living. Lourenso launched his own photography studio, Out of New York Studio, in October 2010. In 2012 he was a finalist in the running to be the head photographer for amazon.com, gilt group and Net-A-Porter. He chose to stay at his own studio to pursue his own creative vision and passion melding photography, art and fashion. His clients include US Polo, Reebok, Body Glove, And 1, and van heusen, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Lacoste, Dollar General and numerous online stores and boutiques. He freelanced for dot com, Totsy and Bare Necessity from 20••••15. At the forefront of the plus modeling industry, he was one of the main freelance photographers for Ashley Stewart from 20••••19.
