ABOUT LOUISE ELLIOTT
A skilled communicator and award-winning journalist, I have travelled internationally with four different prime ministers and worked extensively with Conservative, Liberal and NDP leaders and their campaign staff during the 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011 and 2015 federal elections. During my 15 years in the Parliamentary Press Gallery for CBC News, and at Queen\'s Park in Ontario, I developed a comprehensive knowledge of the federal government and federal politics and policy, and a deep understanding of the news industry and its connections to Canada\'s parliamentary democracy and academic institutions. I am known for my relationship-building skills, and for thriving in a high-pressure, fast-paced communications environment.I also have unique experience working with Indigenous communities and on Indigenous issues, having travelled frequently to remote First Nations as a journalist. I won the Canadian Press Story of the Year for my reporting on the Pikangikum First Nation in northwestern Ontario.I have two Masters’ degrees, and I am proficient in both official languages (Government of Canada linguistic profile ECC)
